Unrestricted Absentee Balloting Defeated by House Democrats

Republicans once again introduced an amendment to the Teen Voting Resolution today on the floor of the House which would allow unrestricted absentee ballot access, eliminating the set requirements currently in place to cast absentee ballots.

The measure would have expanded ballot access to all voters and provide greater convenience increase participation in the electoral process.

When the bill came before the House of Representatives last week, Democrats withdrew the entire bill when the Republican amendment was offered.

The amendment was defeated by a vote of 65-82. 

The underlying Resolution allowing seventeen-year-olds to vote in primaries for general elections they will be eighteen-years-old for passed by a vote 135-12 and now heads to the Senate.
